My New Toy

Well, I recently received my new toy, the ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-PU1X. I haven't had very much time to play with it, yet; mainly because I was pushing to get some work stuff done this week. Even with the limited amount of time, I figured I post some pictures and compare it with my old Acer Aspire 3004WLMi.

First Post of the New Year

Well, it is the start of a new year and it looks like I'm already slacking on my goal to try and update the blog at least once a week. Tsk-tsk on me. Hopefully, I'll start to get better about updating my blog more regularly, but as work deadlines get closer it will get tough.

It is the New Year, well a little after, so I'll go with a classic New Year's post and put up some resolutions.

1. Currently set at 1280 x 1024. Wait, New Year's resolutions not screen resolutions.
   
2. Obviously, as stated above, try to update the blog once a week ... I probably should pick a day for updates, eventually.
   
3. Read at least two of my Haruki Murakami books (I'm starting to have a backlog of his books) and my Bruce Campbell books.
4. Try to get out of the apartment more and do things, like hang out with friends and try new restaurants.

Well, I'm going to keep this post short this time, but a new post is coming soon. I promise it is resolution #2, plus I have the idea for my next post already (^_-).

Adventures In Cooking #1

Every so often, I like to try out new recipes to flex my culinary muscles. So, as the holidays approach my work project has a little "cookie" exchange and contest for the best "cookie". I quote the cookies, because it's pretty much any candies, sweets, or other desserts. Last year was a complete disaster when I attempted to make fudge ... had no candy thermometer and the fudge never became hard because I missed the temperature for the "soft ball" stage. This year, I decided to a try a dry run with the new treat recipe ... very successful; the dry run received high praise.

The recipe included below was original based off this recipe. However after looking at several other truffle recipes (some just general truffle recipes), I knew that it just wasn't right. I knew that this recipe needed to be tweaked to make it work for me and the final product of my tweaks is included below.

Welcome to マイライフ. マイライフ is pronounced Mai Raifu. マイライフ means "My Life" in Japanese; knowing this, you can figure out that this blog is going to be about me and my life. Now, I'm not going to talk about every little thing in my daily life (there will be some of course), but it is more of a look at all the things around me that collectively make up my life and my persona. This blog will probably get pretty random (and geeky) at times since my interests tend to range from things that are considered in the norm or mainstream to more exotic or niche items.

Hopefully, I'll get the blog setup to my liking soon. Still not totally happy with the appearance ... I'll class it up shortly ... hopefully. So while it's not perfect, I figured it was about time to get my first post up on this blog.
